Kia “Recall” 35 000 units of Soul and Sorento in the U.S.

Administrator Highway Safety and National Traffic Safety National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) United States, announced the withdrawal of two leading products in the U.S. Kia, Kia Sorento Soul 2010 and 2011. Total 35 185 units due to defects in the installation of interior lighting cables that can cause fires.

Earlier, on Tuesday (31/08/2010), Kia Motors also had announced the withdrawal of cars sold 18,000 units in South Korea due to the same problem. Kia Sorento Soul and drawn a production period of September 2009 until July 2010. Soul sold in the U.S. are produced in South Korea, while the Sorento in a factory Georgia, USA.

On Soul, cables that need to be replaced at the front door panel and serves to control the illumination light accents on the speakers. The same problem occurs on the lamp on the front and rear door trim of Sorento.

Recall process will take place throughout September 2010. Each dealer will inspect and replace defective cables and take a free of charge to customers. Until today there are no accident or injury caused by this issue.
