Pedicab of the Future
German car, Maybach designed a pedicab of the future, Maybach DRS (Den-Riki-Sha). Autoevolution on Thursday, November 18, 2010, stated that the electric-powered tricycles were created for the event of Los Angeles Design Challenge. It is a competition vehicle with a maximum weight of 454 kg. Created by the company’s Advanced Design Studio in Tokyo, this vehicle can accommodate two passengers.
Maybach is known as a manufacturer of super luxury cars. Maybach is part of the Daimler AG company. “This is a big challenge, especially for brands such as Maybach,” said Holger Hutzenlaub, head of Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Tokyo.
These vehicles are using natural materials such as Mercedes concept car Biome. Frames are made of carbon fiber and organic composite materials while the doors and windows and roof made of polycarbonate panoramic using a flexible organic material.
Pedicab is equipped with two electric motors that power each producing 27 hp. Electric current is stored in lithium-ion batteries mounted on the rear of the vehicle.
